Garden Sunflower Christmas Ornament

36124 Merck Family's Old World Christmas

Introduced 2010

Golden sunflower with green leaf details and ladybug. Made of mouth blown, hand painted glass. Measures approximately 3" Front and back shown.

With its bright golden color and ray-like petals, the Sunflower is a symbol of the sun and signifies nobility. In China it represents longevity and is considered magical. In Christian love, it serves as a sign of God's love.
The sunflower is the state flower of the US state of Kansas.

To grow well, sunflowers need full sun. They grow best in fertile, moist, well-drained soil with a lot of mulch. In commercial planting, seeds are planted 45 cm (1.5 ft) apart and 2.5 cm (1 in) deep. Sunflower "whole seed" (fruit) are sold as a snack food, after roasting in ovens with or without salt added. Sunflowers can be processed into a peanut butter alternative, sunbutter.  *Wikipedia
